Remote
REMOTE is a conceptual response to the shifting culture around work and commuting. As remote work becomes more permanent, so does the need for flexibility, mobility, and balance in our daily routines. This project explores the potential of a mobile workspace that supports autonomy, productivity, and personal time.

The Introduction
A reimagined working future through a personal autonomous vehicle designed for flexibility, efficiency, and balance.
Introduction
During a semester shaped by remote-first workflows and flexible routines, Navi and I noticed something strange. Despite all the tools available to work from anywhere, we kept commuting across the city just to collaborate in person. It raised a bigger question. If remote work no longer requires an office, why are we still wasting time getting to one?
REMOTE was our response to that contradiction. A speculative mobility system centered around a personal autonomous vehicle called 002, designed to support focused, productive work while in motion. The goal was not to eliminate movement but to make it meaningful. To turn transit into time well spent.

*
The Problem
Even in a world of remote tools and flexible jobs, the infrastructure for mobile work has not caught up.
Over the course of the project, Navi and I logged more than 75 in-person work sessions. That added up to 38 hours of commuting. Hours lost not just to travel, but to transition. Between home and studio, focus and distraction, digital and physical.
The problem was not just that we had to move. It was that the space between locations offered nothing in return. The commute, even in a remote-first world, remained a void. We saw an opportunity to rethink that space, to design something that could support work within the journey.

*
The Solution
002 is a single-person autonomous workspace designed from the inside out, supported by a network of flexible service hubs.
We designed 002 around what a single person actually needs to work well while in motion. A rotating seat. A fold-down desk. Soft lighting. Power. Calm. The vehicle eliminates the need for driving entirely, allowing the interior to become a space for deep work, focused calls, or even rest.
But REMOTE goes beyond the vehicle. We imagined a network of small modular hubs placed around the city to support different modes of collaboration and maintenance. These nodes act as connection points. For vehicle storage, spontaneous meetups, or a quiet place to dock. The system offers structure without rigidity, enabling freedom without sacrificing support.

*
The Conclusion
REMOTE proposes a new relationship between time, space, and productivity. One that turns movement into an asset, not a cost.
This project is less about solving a problem and more about asking better questions. What if the in-between spaces of our day were just as intentional as the places we arrive at? What if the commute became the most useful, human part of the workday?
Co-designed with Navi, REMOTE challenges the assumption that remote work must happen from fixed locations. It imagines autonomy as a platform for focus and mobility as a tool for better work. Not someday, but soon.
